Digital Learning Day 2012 A Success At EAPrep
EAPrep Students show off their projects to business leaders and community members.
This week, East Austin College Prep (EAPrep) participated in the nation’s first Digital Learning Day. The hi-tech open house was the only Digital Learning Day event held in Texas and garnered about 50 visitors that included community leaders in the hi-tech, education and political fields, as well as a plethora of curious community members. Visitors were treated to a demonstration of the step-by-step process, from storyboard to completion, of the creation of video games for social change through EAPrep’s Globaloria program. State Representative Mark Strama, a strong advocate for digital literacy and education in Texas, also spoke to the group about the importance of programs like Globaloria in schools. AMD, EAPrep’s Globaloria corporate sponsor, was on hand to see the students’ progress as the school marks its third year of this innovative program.
Thanks to everyone who helped make the evening such a success.
